# What is the difference between local-presence and round-robin rotation?

A pool is a group of numbers the dialer draws from, with a rotation strategy that decides which number is used for each call:

- Local-presence rotation picks a caller ID whose area code matches the lead, then falls back to the least-used number. Area-code matching lifts pickup rates because the call looks local to the person receiving it.
- Round-robin rotation spreads calls evenly across the numbers in the pool.

If pickup rates are low on out-of-area leads, switch the pool to local-presence rotation. Pools are created and edited inside the campaign editor.
